Building Community When Belonging was a Struggle.
One of the founding members of Khalsa Diwan Society, Vancouver, Singh helped establish Canada’s first Sikh gurdwara in 1908 where he served as the First Head Granthi in Canada. Linked to the Ghadar Lehar who was later jailed in India and sentenced to death, he inspired Sikh immigrants to stand with dignity in an age of discrimination. His life is the testament in building the foundations of community and identity in a new land.
